Your Parents and Youby Robert S. McGee is a book I will read excerpts from over and over again. It is helpful for me because I am able to put some pieces back together and work to resolve the tragic realities of life. The book is comforting and gives me some peace about family dynamics. On the path to healing, I am still expressing the tragic, but wanting to get beyond tragedy to the goodness part, expeditiously.
I envision producing a stage play or film musical on day...
Isn’t it tragic when mamas wreck havoc
And daddy(s) make habits
And uncles pretend that
They love you
And isn’t it strange when a stranger seems
Plain and their gestures are games that remind you
there’s no one who wants you
And of course all the while
You are wearing that smile
And the days seem worthwhile
While you’re
Cordially saying I don't want to…
And the days pass you by without nary a how do you do
Isn't it queer when you cautiously peer
into eyes that are near
and you find them to be
quite amusing
And isn't it off when you get what you thought
was a man and find him to be bruising
and lost and confusing
and though you're a wreck
and you've lost all your bets
and you're not at your best
while you're cordially saying I've got to
and your life passed you by without nary a why as you sigh
But when finally asked to dance
Will you stubbornly pass up the chance
Or turn to face the dance floor
Or close yet another blessed door
Isn’t it tragic when mamas wreck havoc
And daddy(s) make habits
And uncles pretend that
They love you
And isn’t it strange when a stranger seems
Plain and their gestures are games that remind you
there’s no one who wants you
And of course all the while
You are wearing that smile
And the days seem worthwhile
While you’re
Cordially saying I want to…
And the days pass you by without nary a how do you do, too
blessings~
