Bantu Knots Experiment

December 31st, Maryee fashioned a number of bantu knots in my head. She just twisted three locs together at a time and then bantu'd them. I kept them in about ten hours. They hurt my head too much to leave in any longer. She really did a monster grip job of placing them firmly into position.

By the way, she used a mixture of Jamaican Mango & Lime (Lock & Set Styling Lotion) and Lotta Body after I initially wet my hair. She could have used more, but she had somewhere to go; hence, she hurried to get through.

I sat under the dryer for about 30 minutes, but my hair was not dry. I just kept them in as long as I could stand it. As a result I have had waves for almost four days and counting. It is nice to have this big head full of waves to start off the new year. It seems the waves are not going to fall unless I wet them down. Pretty good staying time, I think.

Thanks Maryee!

Maryee also just purchased Soft Spikes, so this should prove to be a year full of exciting big hair, locs, curls, and waves... I am very excited about the soft spikes.

I am so tender-headed it is not even funny. That is one of the main reasons I avoid styling my locs... the pain... the pain... Another reason... this town doesn't motivate me to reach that high and my ever popular reason... "just choosing not to."

The last pics are from last night. The waves are still going strong.

Blessings and have a wonder-filled, peace-filled, and awesome new year~

Just beautiful! I love the waves and curls they look really good! Maryee was really patient for putting only three locks per bantu. The turn out was great and your on day 4 now? One day in the future I have the give those a try becasue they look really good. Did you put anyhting in your hair to help the curls last? Have a good one!

I thank you for your question, and I will add this to the post.

Your hair is absolutely gorgeous! Actually, you and your sister Maryee were one of the first blogs that I came across when looking into locks a year ago. Know that your words and actions moved me. Keep inspiring...

sunsail,

Thank you... Maryee and I love to take black and white pics... When we put on the "faces," some of the shots come out extraordinary. We are often shocked and awed at what we get... lol Revlon~ Boy I wish I had that job as broke as I am...

Naturally Sophia,

Thank you... the Bantu knots are a cute style... Rock it, sis... I enjoyed the waves and curls while they lasted...

Be blessed, ya'll~

LOL! Sis, in Jamaican parlance, when we say we love something "gawn to bed", it means we LOOOVE it very, very, very much.

n'Drea,

lol... Go on and educate me, now...

This USA/Texan is a very literal receiver of information... As you just witnessed.

Thank you for the translation and clarification of the expression. You are too cool!

Thank you... Pyzam is nifty. Hunter green is my favorite color, and I just started to look at the green layouts and found this one suited my taste. I enjoy comfort a great deal, and when nice and elegant things are within my reach, I delight in them.

Unfortunately, my income does not afford me the ideal living arrangements I would like to have that equals what I can choose in cyberspace...lol...sigh...hhuummm...

I make due with the resources I do have, though. It is good.

Blessings and thanks again for stopping through.

I love the waves in your hair. I haven't really started to do anything with mine. Just scheduled re-tightening every 6 weeks and let it go. I was to start rolling and styling. You just gave me some inspiration. Have a Blessed Easter.

Jena Evans said...

Thank you, Aqueelah...

It was a very long while before I began to style my locs... Thank goodness for my sister wanting to play in my hair; otherwise, I fear I'd be free styling along forever...

Have fun with your new styles and hope you had a wonder-filled Easter!
